Kinirons Therapy
Teen ADHD Assessment Process
Our Process
Kinirons Therapy offers a teen ADHD assessment process that is collaborative and supportive for you as parent/carer and designed to prioritise your young person's comfort while also meeting the highest clinical standards (CAAQAS, the UK expert consensus for quality teen ADHD assessments, NICE-aligned).
Whether you choose to meet in-person at my Surbiton therapy room or prefer the convenience of an online ADHD assessment available UK-wide, our structured six-step pathway ensures a thorough, multi-informant experience with school input and Young DIVA-5 (semi-structured clinical interview designed to help diagnose ADHD in young people).
This process is about much more than a clinical conclusion; it provides a safe, non-judgmental space for your family to explore your teen's unique neurodivergent profile. By the end of our work together, you will leave empowered with a deep understanding of their experiences, alongside practical strategies, school templates, a GP letter, and professional recommendations to guide your next steps.
Teen ADHD Assessment in Surbiton & Online

1
Free Consultation
(15-20 min)
You'll book a quick 15-20 minute video call through my website. We'll have an open, friendly chat, parent and/or your teen, about what has led you to consider seeking an ADHD assessment and discuss whether an assessment with Kinirons Therapy is the right fit for your family.
2
Pre-Assessment Information Gathering
You'll be sent secure online links to complete intake forms and questionnaires: your views as parent/carer on home life and developmental history, your teen's self-report (age-appropriate), plus school challenges and basic health questions.

Whenever possible, information should also be gathered from school (teacher/SENCO report or rating scale). With your consent, I'll request this school input directly.
3
Main Assessment Session
(2 hours)
A supportive in-person or video session. Initially I will meet with both you and your teen to discuss developmental history, school life, and early risk factors, then we'll have a separate chat alone for them to speak openly about things like friendships, hobbies, and their emotions.
I will use a combination of the Young DIVA-5 semi-structured interview and open questions. This isn't a tick-box test, we explore all 18 DSM-5 symptoms across settings (home, school, social), associated difficulties and impairments, to ensure we can disentangle ADHD from differential diagnoses/comorbidities like anxiety or autism.
4
Draft Report Review
Within 7 days, you'll receive your draft report securely (parent and teen-friendly summary included). This gives you an opportunity to review the report and make sure you understand each section before we meet to discuss it.

It is important to note that my clinical decision will not change but if there are any factual errors such as names or dates these can be amended at this time.
5
Feedback Session
(60 min)
We'll meet to discuss the final report together (joint parent and teen). We'll explore what the outcome means for your family, address any concerns, and plan practical next steps like school adjustments, medication referrals, or therapy.

There will then be an opportunity for the young person to have some additional private space with me if needed.
6
Next Steps
You'll receive psychoeducational resources and practical strategies to support your teen and family following the assessment, tailored to school, home and everyday life.
With your consent, I can provide a GP letter and, where helpful, a brief template or summary for school or college explaining the diagnosis and suggested reasonable adjustments.

If medication is something you'd like to explore for them, I can recommend a trusted psychiatrist I work with, or you're also welcome to take the report to a psychiatrist or NHS team of your choice. We can also discuss treatment options and onward management.

We can also talk through other support options such as ADHD-informed therapy, parent coaching, and exam or transition planning, so you leave with a clear sense of what might help next.
Transparent Fees

Adult ADHD Assessment - £1250
Teen ADHD Assessment - £1550

Balance due before Step 3 (Main Assessment).
How This Process Supports Your Family
Each step in the ADHD assessment process is carefully designed to offer your family clarity, structure, and genuine support.

The free initial consultation lets us all see if an ADHD assessment with me feels like the right next step for your teen, with absolutely no obligation to book.
The pre-assessment information gathering stage provides essential information from multiple sources (you as parent, your teen, school), required for CAAQAS/NICE gold standards, so our session can focus entirely on understanding your teen. It ensures your report aligns with UK best-practice using validated tools GPs, psychiatrists, and schools recognise.
The main assessment session builds a complete developmental picture, past and present, through my gentle, structured Young DIVA-5 interview and open questions. There are no right or wrong answers; this creates a safe space for your teen to share their unique experiences across different settings (home, school, social), while I carefully check for other explanations like anxiety, autism, or learning differences.
You'll have a chance to review a draft report to check factual accuracy before it's finalised, keeping everything transparent and professionally sound. The feedback session gives you space to process findings together, ask questions, and map next steps as a family.
By the end, your family will leave empowered with a full clinical report, teen summary sheet, GP letter, school template, psychiatrist recommendations, psychoeducational resources, and practical strategies to support school, home, and beyond.
